The price will vary depending on where your kitten is flying from and which airline is used.
Here is a site with more information.
Have fun and I hope your kitten has fun too!!~~~~

You for got to say from where in continental US. For example it may be much more to fly her from someplace like Maine than someplace like California. I flew a kitten in 2000 from Florida to Maine for about an extra 50 bucks on top of my ticket. But I had a dog shipped from Alaska to Maine (long story about a move and not wanting to drive that far with my brothers dog!) for about 100 bucks. This was some time ago and the dog was quite large.

sidenote: both of my pets faired VERY well flying. Years later I had to ship another dog from Florida to Maine (50 bucks) and he did fine too

In agreement, the summer months are the most expensive, just when everybody comes and are out of school.

I would say that April and May are the least expensive. I just checked flights from San Diego to Maui for April and May, and they have lots of them starting at about $350 round trip per person. Fall months are around $600, and winter and summer months are around $850.

The winter months are usually more expensive (and crowded) not only because people want to go somewhere warm. But, it's also whale season. The holidays are expensive, because lots of people take long vacations. And, summer-fall is expensive because that's when most kids are out of school (family vacations).

I would suggest going in April. It's toward the end of whale season, but there's still plenty of them around with stragglers hanging around into May. The big surf is also starting to diminish and the trade winds start to mellow out. So, you don't get as many small craft advisories and there are more options for doing things on the water. It also makes for better snorkeling.

It costs the most to go to Hawaii in the summer and winter, less in the spring and fall. Summer is busy because lots of families with children come while the kids are out of school. Winter is busy because lots of people from cold climates come to get away from the snow. Spring and fall are slower times in Hawaii because the kids are not out of school and the snowbirds are not running away from the cold weather.

High and low temperatures, and rainfall, for each month of the year are at

I know that July and August tends to be more expensive than earlier in the summer. These two months are when a lot of foreigners come over.

My mana'o (message, point of view) comes from someone who attended U. Hawaii Manoa for four years, but spent a mere two nights at the Hilton Hawaiian Village. These are the hotels where I always wanted to stay:

My favorite beach in Waikiki is what we call "Kaimana" or "San Souci" beach, in front of the New Otani Kaimana Beach Hotel. This is more between Waikiki and Diamond Head, between Kapiolani Park and the Ocean. I've never actually stayed there, but I greatly enjoyed the fundraiser I attended there as a poor but well-connected graduate student. And I can't count the hours I've spent on the beach in front of the Hau Tree Lanai.

On the other side of Diamond Head, away from Waikiki in a swanky neighborhood, is the Mandarin Oriental Hotel (locals still call it the Kahala Mandarin). Jack Lord, the star of Hawaii 5-0 lived in the penthouse here for years.

If you want to be in the middle of it all in Waikiki, The Moana Surfrider, is now 105 years old and just as elegant.

Much farther away, on essentially the northern tip of Oahu, is the Turtle Bay Resort mentioned above.

I hear amazing things about the Hilton Waikaloa, but I haven't been to that side of the Big Island...yet.

In south Maui, one stays in condos, many of which are apparently on the beach. But when I spend the night in Lahaina, I like to stay at the kitchy, relatively inexpensive Makai Inn. It's on the sea wall, not the beach, but you can fall asleep to the sound of the waves--instead of awakening to the sound of the machine cleaning out the sand traps on the golf course at the Ritz.

And that's all I hafta say about that.

I've lived in Hawaii all of my life and can tell you that Mr. Sky made some excellent recommendations. I just want to add that for your one day of pampering, you consider the Four Seasons Hualalai in north Kona on the Big Island. For that "you own the beach" experience, reserve an Executive Suite - Ocean Front. It's not a sand beach but I guarantee you that you won't care. But be warned, pleasure has it's price.

Ok, this would be my suggestion:

On Oahu there is a hotel called The Turtle Bay Resort. They have beach cottages which offer breathtaking views and direct beach access. This hotel is located on the North Shore of Oahu....nearby would be Sunset Beach, the Banzai Pipeline (great place to watch surfing), etc.

For the remaining days of your stay, you could do 1 of 2 things. You could go to Maui and check out the Old Lahaina Luau (one of the best of all the islands), shop on Front Street in Lahaina, see the sunrise on Haleakala or just relax and soak in the Hawaiian culture.

Or you could go to the Big Island. Keep in mind the Big Island is just that...BIG. It is larger than all the other islands combined. It is very hard to get the full flavor of this island all in a few days. I went there for 2 weeks and didn't see everything I wanted to. But, if you do go there I would stay in the Kailua-Kona area. It is where the sun shines almost every day of the year. You may want to try the Kona Village Resort for your "pampered for one day" experience. It's as close to beach front access as you can get. It is 'Old Hawaiian' at its finest.

Whatever you decide to do I'm sure it will be the right decision. There is really no 'bad' place to stay in Hawaii. Most of Hawaii's beauty is in the land, the culture and the natural surroundings. I hope you have a wonderful vacation....

Ok, this would be my suggestion:

On Oahu there is a hotel called The Turtle Bay Resort. They have beach cottages which offer breathtaking views and direct beach access. This hotel is located on the North Shore of Oahu….nearby would be Sunset Beach, the Banzai Pipeline (great place to watch surfing), etc.

Keep in mind the Big Island is just that…BIG. It is larger than all the other islands combined. It is very hard to get the full flavor of this island all in a few days. I went there for 2 weeks and didn’t see everything I wanted to. But, if you do go there I would stay in the Kailua-Kona area. It is where the sun shines almost every day of the year. It is ‘Old Hawaiian’ at its finest.

Usually at a hotel that is right on the beach. And you would preferably want a ground floor room. The first step down to the beach from the second floor or higher is a real b***h.

Anytime you go to a beach you should be alert of anything. It depends what beach you go to though. There's many many beaches in Oahu. How do I know? I live there. I've lived here my whole life and I go to the beach a lot. I would recommend sandy's beach park but the waves get really rough........... last time it was 6-8 feet. Imagine that. Even 4 feet is pretty rough so imagine how rough it was then! Oh but it was fun! So I'd have to say that yes, you should be concerned about sharks if you go to the really deep end.

No, I would worry about other things. Like jellyfish that have washed up on shore, just watch your step.
When you do go in the water, make sure that you dont have any cuts, or that your wife is in her monthly cycle.
I've never tried this but, when growing up in a commercial fishing area in Fla.. Fishermen would tie a bar of house hold soap (like Dial) to there waist or even just put it in there pockets. They said it was a shark repeller. Like I said I've never tried this, but it seems possible to me, as soap does irritate our eyes and such.
Really though you do have a better chance of winning the lottery.

Have a great time. Froggy

Figure there are about a hundred thousand swimmers per day in Hawaii. There are shark attacks about once every five years. This means you would have a one in a (100,000 * 365 * 5) or about one in 180 million for each day in the water, but I suspect it may be slightly more than that but I wouldn't lose any sleep about it. You are much more likely to drown.
