When should I start tanning for a trip to Hawaii?

drunkenlovesong asked:

I am going to Hawaii in May and want to get a nice base tan before I leave. I live in Portland, OR, so the chances of me getting a tan is a big, fat zero.

When should I start going to a tanning salon? I tan fairly easily and don’t burn easily.

Tanning salons are not good for you. I would suggest like Jerrgens (sp) Natural Glow or some kind of tanning lotion.

I’d say 4 weeks 3 or 4 times a week. It’ll take you 2 weeks just to get to the full tanning time. Don’t go 2 days in a row in the 1st 2 weeks. The good thing about 4 week schedule is a lot of places have a 1 month package – it’s cheaper than pay-per-visit.

You should go for three weeks, go every other day, when you develop the tan you want go every other 2 or 3 days. This with build a healthy glowing tan for you. Make sure you DO NOT tan everyday. I made this mistake before I went on vacation and my skin got very dry and slightly burned. It didn’t feel good at all. Plus if you tan everyday, your skin can become leathery and rough. While tanning use a good lotion, that you buy AT the tanning salon. Depending on what you like you can get a tingle lotion. I personally like it but some people don’t. The first time you use it, you will feel tingles where you applied it and it may cause a burning feeling. But only slightly! This lotion helps you tan faster, from my experience. If you don’t think you would like it go for a bronzer [lotion]. These work great also. Good luck. =]
