What is the best way to spend 10-12 days in Hawaii?

deployedbride asked:

We’re looking to fly into one island and then hop to another island mid way through. Anyone have any tips on the best islands to visit and why? Maybe even tips on how to do it even cheaper (we’re military and have limited incomes) We’re looking to snorkel, hike, hit the beaches and experience an authentic Hawaii away from main tourist drags. Help? Thanks in advance!

    1 day in honolulu
    3 days in Kawai
8 days on the big Island of Hawaii. Stay on NorthWest Shore

Go online and find good cheap condo rates.

On Honolulu there is a military hotel.

You can get a cheap condo (not on beach) for $75 a night

    forget Muai

Big island, and Maui are great. The big island isn’t very populated, and it is amazing to see the divide between the total jungle half of the island, and the other half which is entirely lava rock. You can snorkel, and hike in many good places, for example, volcano national park. I enjoyed that one, you are allowed to enter into some of the ancient lava tubes, and you ascend to the summit of the volcano and see lots of hot steam vents.

Maui also has many good snorkel locations, and is overall not very crowded. For hiking, try mount haleakala, it is a dormant volcano so the summit is free to be explored. It was a fun day.

Kauai is also supposed to be good, I haven’t been to this one, but it is all jungle and, very limited population. If you really want to see the pure tropical wonder in its full splendor, this would be a good place to start. Helicopter tours are fun too. Did that on the big island :3

Good luck and enjoy your trip.

Wear a hat to keep your scalp from burning…and wear a lot of sun screen or you will look red like a lobster!

I know a girl who went and had been going to tan, but came back all sun burnt…her scalp even peeled bad.

Go to Oa’hu, and see Diamond Head the most famous volcanic crater in the world.

When i stayed in Hawaii i stayed in Wikiki and we went to the “International Market place”, its like a huge outdoor market place with lots of culture and things to buy. Great time. And for hiking on the same island you can climb “Diamond Head”, which is the unactive volcano that in world war 2 had all of the huge gun turrets on, a good 3 hour hike easy!. But be sure to bring a flashlight because there is lots of cool mini caves and such to explore.
And also on the same island you take a tour (around $40 per person) and they will take you out on a boat into the water and take you directly to “Pearl Harbour” (This was AMAZING!!!) You can see the ships poking through the water that are sunken from world war 2. Alot of amazing things to do on this perticular island for enjoyment. And of course the beaches are all good(lots of good surfing areas on this island).
And this might not sound too intreresting to do on a holiday but it was enjoyable for me, we went to the “Dole” pineapple plant and saw how they make pinapple juice and sugercane. Its quite the process.
And for bars and drinking and clubbing and such there is always downtown Wikiki.
And im sure you can enjoy this on all of the islands but i think you should go because it was amazing as well was the “Luau”! Pig roast in the sand free drinks and Buffet of alot of hawaiian foods. This costs from $130 per person to about $300 per person depending on what exptent you want to enjoy. We took a package that came with our flight for this, but they have all the girls with the coconuts on there ***** and fire and dancing and a really great show.
And last but not least on this island you can spend a few hours and rent a car and drive the entire way around the outside of the island in 3 hours and see all of the beaches and things to do.

    My 2 cents :) .
Have a great and safe trip!
