Well i lived in hawaii fo most of my life until just 9 months ago. I am 18, and i know that living on your own and buying groceries would cost about $100 to $150 depending on what you get or need. Fresh meat, fruits, and vegtibles will always be more expensive. Just a little advice Hawaii is very exspensive to live. but its is very beautiful there. I lived on Maui. I hope i was helpful and good luck.

A lot depends on what store you go to, what island you live on, and what you like to eat.
Milk will run you about $7-8 a gallon, a dozen eggs is about $4, and cereal is often $5-6 a box.
If you have military priviledges and can shop at the commissary, the prices are significantly lower on basic food supplies such as milk and eggs.
Hope that helps……good luck!

A friend of mine who recently moved to Hawaii said that milk was now over $10 a gallon. And a turkey for Thanksgiving was over $70. A loaf of bread is about $4.
He said however that fish and pineapple are ridiculously cheap. He said he can get a whole pineapple for $1.

if you visit often or know someone there try and get a local newspaper because prices vary by location. i lived on maui for 19 years…im now 20 and live in WA. things like milk, eggs and bread are definitely more expensive like everyone above me said. it does range from store to store. for your other groceries and necessities i have found that safeway’s prices are about the same on maui as they are in WA. somethings are even more expensive in WA…only because the taxes are different. hawaii is 4.1667 and WA is 8.9(i think). well, hope i helped and i hope you enjoy hawaii as much as i do. take care and ALOHA!
