How do you go about applying for a teaching job in Hawaii?
borellb asked:
I am a PE teacher who has 3 years teaching experience and my fiancee’ and I are moving to Oahu early next year for her graduate school. I was wondering if anyone has advice about the application and hiring process of teachers in Hawaii?

Is there a general application I fill out or do I just contact all of the schools individually?
Any help would be appreciated.

I visited Hawaii recently and noticed plenty of public and private schools that you might want to consider. You can google the Hawaii State Board of Education and find plenty of opportunites. As for private schools, those should be available in any Yellow Pages directory for Oahu. It’s a beautiful place…. you will love it!

Hawaii is a stat like any other one in terms of teacher hiring. The first thing to do is to obtain your Hawaiian certification. You can write or contact the Hawaii State Department of Education for their certification requirements.
After that you should contact the schools in Oahu. You did not indicate your teaching level or subject matter specialty. You can also look on the Internet for Hawaiian teaching vacancies
Some information is below.
