Hawaii Vacation Tips

You can’t do better than a Hawaii vacation if you’re thinking of lying on a beach and having fun. Hawaii is a perfect place for a lovely and relaxing break to recharge the batteries.

Among the best things about Hawaii is that the climate is always mild. Even in the summertime, the trade winds can generally create a cool breeze and there are plenty of beaches and a clear blue ocean for a swim. During the winter, temperatures remain warm enough for surfing and to enjoy the water. In fact, during the winter, the waves are even much bigger producing some of the best surfing in the world.

While planning a vacation to Hawaii, you might want to go to one of the islands or make plans to visit more than just that one island.

Oahu has well-known Waikiki Beach, the state’s capitol of Honolulu, as well as Pearl Harbor where you are able to take in the USS Arizona museum. A good number of vacationers pick Oahu when visiting Hawaii for the first time. It is not only the busiest Hawaii Island and the one most visited by tourists, but it’s best for sightseeing if you are fascinated with history. You’ll likely have to spend some time here during your vacation to Hawaii, since almost all flights to and from Hawaii use Honolulu as a hub.

Should you travel north of Oahu, you would go to the island of Kauai, the most northerly and the oldest of the Hawaiian Islands. This is an island of extraordinary beauty having the magnificent gold-colored sands of the Coconut Coast to the east and the Waimea Canyon on the west side. Waimea Canyon is known as the ‘Grand Canyon of the Pacific’, and the explanation why is going to be obvious when you see it. Close by is beautiful Kokee State Park which offers a number of hiking trails you can easily take to observe rainforest plants and rare and endangered birds making their home here.

The island of Molokai is situated to the south of Oahu. This island has a large proportion of Native Hawaiians who continue to embrace their culture, history and traditional way of life.

Our next island in the chain is Lanai. This special island doesn’t have even one stop light and life is slower here than found on the other islands. On Lanai are found two prestigious golf courses.

And then we come to Maui, the second largest Hawaiian Island. Maui happens to be in the humpback whale migration route, so it’s fantastic for whale watching through the winter months. The beaches are outstanding, and are the first choice for many wanting a relaxing beach vacation.

The Big Island of Hawaii is certainly that – big. The island possesses more land area than all of the other islands put together. Of the thirteen climatic zones that are in the world, eleven are found here. On the Big Island is an active volcano, sandy beaches and snow covered mountains.

If you are unsure about which island you’d prefer to spend most of your vacation, or if this will be your first Hawaiian vacation, then why not check out a Hawaii Island cruise? You’ll board your luxurious cruise ship, upon which you will spend your nights, and after departing Honolulu you’ll spend a day and a half on each island. What better way is there to tour the Islands for the first time and then decide which island you enjoy best?

Of course, in case you want to sleep on land, then there’s a fabulous choice of hotels and Hawaii condos you can choose from. Most are reasonably priced and are available all over Hawaii.
