    Maui is very commercialized. Hawaii is less so

    Well i think maui,,its been rated a very good place for weddings for what i have read so far. Plus,, its not the typical Hawaii location and in my opinion its more original. Congratulations, and good luck.

    Maui = expensive and overrated
    Big Island = blah
    Oahu = amazing

    If you have the cash (which you must, if you’re thinking of Maui) reconsider and check out Honolulu, Oahu. You can stay right on the Waikiki strip and be close to the beach, North Shore, Diamond head, etc etc. Oahu is simply amazing.

    The prices aren’t *that* much higher than US…it’s pretty much equivalent to Los Angeles prices. For a great hotel, check out the Marriot…it’s right on the strip and seriously a 3 minute walk from the beach.

    If you’re a surfer, you can try Waikiki beach (or if you’re a *good* surfer, you can try North Shore). Also, check out the Dole Plantation. Sounds boring, but it’s actually really fun (plus their pineapple ice cream is bomb).

    Good luck :)
    ADD: Um, whoever said Maui was “original” and not a typical place for weddings….where have you been?!

    Hi Teri:

    I love both islands…it’s hard to say. But I think I would choose Maui for a wedding. Kaanapli Beach and Kapalua are very nice.

    I am sorry, I don’t usually say that I disagree with a certain poster, but I totally disagree with Kiki. If you want….crowded, crowded, crowded…then go to Oahu. Personally, I did not like it there. Maui is possibly (and it’s only possibly) more expensive, but it depends on where you stay!

    The Big Island is also nice and has many, many nice resorts.
