Hawaii: Hopping islands or Cruise?
adspi asked:
I’d like someone who’s done both to suggest. Is it best to go from LA to Honolulu and then hop to Oahu, Maui and Big Island or is it better to find a cruise from Honolulu round the islands? If hoppping is suggested, what means of travel is available? Woudl that be expensive and are there long distances? Thanks for all your info. Am planning a honeymoon and finally decided Hawaii preferred over Western Caribbean. Much appreciated.

Either can be fun … depends on your tastes.
Norwegian offers the new island cruise on the Pride of Aloha, or you can fly among the islands on Hawaiian Air
I live in Hawaii, too – and support my local economy by flying on the LOCAL airlines … go is a bottom feeding corporation run by a greedy, dishonest scumbag.
But, if that isn’t enough for you … they fly tiny little regional jets operated by very young pilots who are working there while they wait to get on with the big airlines.
What’s more, the two local carriers have matched their fares.
Hawaiian or Aloha!

Island hopping is a better choice because you are able to set how much time you spend in each island. You can use the airlines. Right now the airlines are at a price wars. Recently they were giving $41 inter-island flights with Mesa Airlines. You could do some sight seeing tours. I suggest a helicopter flight on the Big Island (Hawaii island) so that you can see the lava flow … at sunset… its soo beautiful. Go to Haleakala in Maui its beautiful. Its one of the only few places that Hawaii has snow…..
Take it from me… I live in Hawaii

Aloha,
One of the best places I’ve found for this information is
They list lots of info on cruises and island hoping flights, including how long each flight is.
I would think cruising would be better, you don’t have to pay for flights, taxes on flights, a new hotel room on every island as your hotel goes with you – all your food would be included and they can get you specials on tours, luaus etc
