Whale season here in Hawaii is from November through May so you'll be in prime season to spot a few. All of the islands are good for whale watching but Maui and Oahu tend to have the most whale watching tours available. I don't have a favorite tour company as they are all pretty good. I would advise you go on a tour that offers a whale guaratee (most do) where if you don't see a whale, you can come back another day and try again.

Check with your hotel conceirge for their personal favorite, they are often the best sources of information about local companies.

Pick up the touristy type magazines in the airports before you leave.....these books will often have coupons, contact numbers, and deals that aren't advertised.

Good luck and happy whale "hunting"!

Aloha - late March is pushing it but still should be a good time; calves will be born but they will not be big enough yet to head back north. You should be able to get a whale-watching cruise out of Lahaina (on Maui) - best bet on Maui will be the Pacific Whale Foundation; this is their job and their passion. I'd recommend a visit to the Maui Ocean Center in conjunction with the whale-watching tour.
I'd go with Captain Dan out of Kona on the big Island.
Highly recommend you go online to Amazon or even Half.com and purchase the books "Maui Revealed" and "Hawaii-the Big Island Revealed" BEFORE you come see us.
